Tips for a Successful Engagement Photoshoot
Choose the right Photographer
Make sure you hire a photographer who has a style that you love! This includes the way that they pose their couples, the locations they shoot in, and the way that they edit their photos.
Coordinate your outfits to complement each other and your location
Once you’ve decided on a location, choose outfits that compliment the scenery and each other. Neutral colors are always a safe option and it’s best to avoid loud prints or bright colors like neon’s. If you’re not sure, ask your photographer and check out this guide on what to wear to your photo session.
Schedule your photoshoot at the right time of day
Your photographer can help you choose the right time based on your location, but as a general rule it’s best to shoot during the first few hours or the last few hours of the day to get the best lighting. Shooting during the middle of the day can be very difficult outdoors because if it’s a clear day the sunlight can be very harsh. If you’re looking for those magical golden hour photos, plan to start shooting around an hour before sunset. It’s always best to check with your photographer to get the best time.
Relax and have fun!
If you’ve never done a professional photo session before, you might be nervous about how you’ll look on camera. Good photographers will give you all the advice and encouragement you need to look and feel great at your session! The most important thing to remember is to have fun! If you want some help to prepare ahead of your session, check out my guide to being comfortable in front of the camera.
